Floral waters (hydrolates) are a by-product of the steam distillation of plants, flowers, leaves, branches, etc. from which an essential oil has been extracted.
During the distillation process, steam circulates through the plant material and is then re-condensed. The result is an essential oil and a floral water. Since the essential oil is lighter than the floral water, it floats to the surface.
A floral water contains lower concentrations of the active aromatic components found in the essential oil. This makes them easy and interesting to use.
Floral waters are great bases for skin care products because they cleanse, refresh, tone the skin and close pores. Floral waters can replace the water content in most skin care formulations (toners, clay masks, creams and lotions, body mists, etc.) and are great bases for all skin care products because of their skin cleansing, toning, refreshing and astringent properties.
Floral waters also impart a light fragrance and many therapeutic properties to the products in which they are added. Equally wonderful added to running bath water for adults and children alike.
Our floral waters do not contain alcohol. They are 100 % pure and natural.
